"Good Local Reporting"
I’ve been checking in on their local stories lately, and overall it’s solid. They seem to dig into things more than I expected, though I’m not totally sure how I first came across them. Either way, the reporting has been good.

"Works fine, but don’t make me log in again"
I use Austin American-Statesman mostly on my phone, it works well most days. Articles usually load fast, which I appreciate because I don’t have much patience for slow sites. My login usually stays saved too, though it has randomly asked me to sign in again a couple times for no obvious reason. Annoying, but not the end of the world. Overall, it’s been reliable.
"I trust their local reporting"
I keep coming back to their local coverage because it just feels honest and reliable. There’s something about it that makes me feel like I’m getting the real story without all the extra noise.

"Decent enough, but kind of clunky"
I use Statesman.com here and there to catch up on local news, and for the most part it does the job. Pages usually load within a few seconds or so for me, and I can generally find the bigger stories without digging around too much.
The site does feel a little crowded though. There are ads and pop-ups that get in the way sometimes, and the layout feels like it has maybe a bit too much going on. The search works okay-ish, but I’d say it misses the mark more often than I’d like.
Overall, it’s not a bad site, but it’s not exactly smooth either. I still check it when I need local updates, but it feels like it could use some cleaning up and maybe a simpler setup.

"The e-edition loads quickly and the pages are..."
The e-edition loads quickly and the pages are easy to flip through. it feels like a good, practical way to keep up with the news without wasting paper, which matters to me.

"Not really worth paying for"
I signed up for statesman.com because I was trying to keep up more with local news, especially since I usually read stuff over coffee in the morning before work. I figured a subscription would be worth it, but it just didn’t feel like a great value. A lot of the articles seemed really short or kind of repetitive, and even though I was paying, the site still had annoying ads popping up. For what it costs, I expected a lot more. I ended up canceling because I just couldn’t justify keeping it.
"Does not feel very local anymore"
I used to enjoy it because it felt connected to the community, but lately it really does not seem that local. I miss seeing more neighborhood updates and community news.
"Canceling shouldn’t be this annoying"
I tried to cancel online and just kept getting sent in circles. It felt like every step led to another page or another hoop to jump through. Give me a break—canceling a service should not be this hard.

"Pretty decent for the price"
The paper showed up in mostly good shape. It was a little bent, but nothing that made it hard to read. For the price, I’m not too bothered

"Works okay, but feels slow"
I use the Statesman app to check local news and it mostly does what I need, but something about it just feels a little slow sometimes. Articles can take a while to open, especially if I’m on mobile data, and it’s frozen on me a few times when I scroll too fast. The notifications are fine and the layout is easy enough to figure out. It’s not a bad app, but it definitely could use some fixes

"Not gonna lie, the paywall killed it for me"
Not gonna lie, I tried to read one local story and immediately got stopped by the paywall. I totally get that they need to make money, but it gets frustrating when almost every link feels locked behind something. I even made an account before, and I was still dealing with popups and random sign-in issues. At that point, it just wasn’t worth the hassle for me.

"I do enjoy the local news coverage..."
I do enjoy the local news coverage, but getting help has been frustrating. Compared to other services I use, their customer support feels really slow. It took a few days to hear back, and when they finally replied, it didn’t actually solve my issue. I kind of felt like I had to keep chasing them just to get basic help

"The articles actually give you something to work with"
I’ve been reading statesman.com for local news, the articles usually go deeper than I expect. I keep thinking it’ll just be a quick headline or a short update, but then they’ll include background, quotes, and enough context that I actually understand what’s going on. Maybe I’m just used to other sites feeling rushed, but this one doesn’t usually give me that vibe. The site is easy to use too, which helps.

"Paper gets here most days, honestly"
I mean, the delivery is okay for the most part. My paper usually shows up, so it’s not like it’s terrible or anything, but it does come late sometimes. There have also been a few days where it didn’t show up at all, which is frustrating

"Billing could be a bit more straightforward"
I got charged and wasn’t totally sure what it was for at first. The billing details could use a little more clarity, nothing dramatic, just one of those “wait, what is this?” moments.

"Fresh updates most days"
I check Austin American-Statesman often, the news usually feels fresh when I stop by. Some stories do pop up more than once, but overall it does a good job staying current...
"Pretty decent local news, though the ads can be a lot"
I check statesman.com fairly often, mostly for local news, and I’d say the coverage is usually solid. The ads do get a little annoying sometimes, especially the pop-ups or things loading while I’m in the middle of reading. Maybe it depends on the day, but it can feel a bit much. Still, it’s not the worst site I’ve used, and most of the time it works fine. Overall, I think it’s good
"The emails got old quickly"
At first I thought the newsletter might be useful, but it started feeling really cluttered fast. Ugh. A lot of the same stories kept showing up again and again, so it just became annoying to read. Nope.

"I check the Austin American-Statesman pretty..."
I check the Austin American-Statesman regularly for Austin news, and for the most part, it does what I need it to do. Like, if I’m trying to figure out what’s happening around town, it usually gives me the basics without too much digging.
Every now and then, though, I’ll read something and think, wait, wasn’t that detail different earlier? Or I’ll click a headline expecting something bigger, and then the actual article feels a little less dramatic. Not a huge deal, but it does make me pause before fully trusting the first version of a story.
Overall, I still think it’s useful for keeping up with local stuff. I just wish corrections or updates were a little more obvious, because otherwise I’m sitting there wondering if I missed something or if the story changed after I read it.
